Manchester United sacked Ruben Amorim, bringing an end to his 14-month tenure at the club. Questions were raised about his continued presence in the Red Devils’ dugout after directing an emotional outburst toward the club’s board during a draw at Leeds.
He has now paid the ultimate price for his outburst and a succession of disappointing performances.
Amorim took over as manager of United in November 2024, succeeding Erik ten Hag in a prestigious Premier League position, but he has only managed 63 games. The Red Devils won only 24 of those games, leaving their new manager with a 38 percent win percentage.
United wrote in a brief statement on the club’s official website: “With Manchester United sitting sixth in the Premier League, the club’s leadership has reluctantly made the decision that it is the right time to make a change. This will give the team the best opportunity of the highest possible Premier League finish. The club would like to thank Ruben for his contribution to the club and wishes him well for the future.”
