Ademola Lookman, a forward for the Super Eagles, declined to intensify the heated altercation with Victor Osimhen during Monday night’s 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations last 16.
In the first half, both players scored, with Lookman contributing two assists to Osimhen’s goals.
After the Atalanta player seemed to take a shot rather than pass the ball, Osimhen and Lookman got into a heated argument.
Osimhen reportedly asked head coach Eric Chelle to remove him after he stopped running in an attack a few minutes later.
“I don’t think that is really important, the team won 4-0,” Lookman told journalists.
“Vic is my number one guy, everybody knows this. Top striker, top player so all of the rest is not important.”
