Former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami (SAN) has been granted N500 million bail by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja, pending his trial on the N9 million money laundering charges brought against him by the federal government.
Malami must provide two sureties who will guarantee the same amount.

The Deputy Chief Registrar of the Court must verify the property paperwork, and the sureties must also provide an affidavit of means.
Malami must provide the court his travel documentation, and he cannot leave the country without the court’s express consent.
Additionally, the court ordered the former AGF and his sureties to turn in two current passport photos.
Malami has been placed under detention at Kuje jail until he fulfills the requirements of his bail.
At the time of this revelation, the former Minister of Justice’s friends, business acquaintances, and supporters were making rounds to get Malami bail.
The trial on the accusations of corruption is scheduled to begin on February 17 by Justice Emeka Nwite.
Malami, his son Abdulaziz Malami, and Hajia Asabe Bashir, an employee of Rahamaniyya Properties Limited, were granted the same bail.
