The national head of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has stated that he has no “price tag” and cannot be bought or influenced in politics.
The former governor of Kano State made the remarks while discussing current political developments, including treachery, loyalty, and the state’s general political atmosphere.
While acknowledging that politics often involves wins and losses, Kwankwaso cautioned that treachery frequently incites public outrage, especially at a time when many Nigerians are irritated by economic hardship and insecurity.
He claims that those who compromise their morals in order to further their own interests frequently find themselves in political situations from which there is no obvious way out.
He was cited as saying that treachery had continued to undermine the legitimacy of certain political platforms and that such acts were partially to blame for the public’s declining support, particularly due to inadequate management of security and economic issues.
Kwankwaso emphasized that his integrity was not for sale, rejecting the widespread notion that any politician could be bought.
“People often say that everyone has a price in Nigeria. If you are searching for someone without a price tag, then come to Rabiu Kwankwaso,” he said.
The NNPP leader also characterized Kano’s political landscape as distinct, pointing out that the state’s voters are politically astute and hard to influence with cash or tangible presents.
“Kano politics is different. Where else can someone come with bags of money and think they can simply buy people during meetings?” He asked.
He insisted that no amount of money could purchase his conscience and that if wealth had been his primary driving force, he would have publicly valued himself.
During elections, Kwankwaso warned voters and politicians against giving in to the lure of short-term inducements, pointing out that such decisions frequently lead to long-term pain.
“You may endure hardship for four years, then be given peanuts one day, and end up suffering for another four years,” he said.
He warned that leadership based on coercion and treachery cannot produce sustainable growth and urged political stakeholders to stay true to their values and concentrate on the long-term interests of the populace.
