Salihu Lukman, a former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged frontline presidential candidates in the 2023 general elections to unite against President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 contest.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, Lukman appealed to Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso to forge an alliance against the ruling party. He also listed other political heavyweights, including former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and former governors Nasir El-rufai, Rauf Aregbesola, Kayode Fayemi, and Ibikunle Amosun, to be part of the merger.
Lukman lamented the current state of the country, condemning the ruling APC for legitimizing higher levels of corruption and failing to provide responsive leadership. He noted that building a united front requires selflessness from the political class.
