In a surprise move, the organisers of the #EndBadGovernance protest in Ondo State have withdrawn from the demonstration, citing concerns that it could be hijacked and turned into an ethnic conflict.
Addressing journalists at the NUJ Press Centre in Akure, the State Secretary of the Concerned Revolutionary Youths, Ogundipe Seyi Olaniyi, explained that the planned protest had already achieved some of its objectives, making it unnecessary to risk chaos or violence.
Ogundipe stated, “The planned protest has already achieved some of its aims as President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has taken some proactive measures to address many of the issues raised by the organisers.” He emphasized that the group’s decision to pull out was not due to financial inducement or intimidation.
The group has notified its counterparts nationwide and security agencies of its withdrawal from the protest, opting instead to continue engaging in dialogue with the government on issues affecting Nigerians.
