A partial collapse of the national electricity grid occurred on Monday, leaving some areas of the country without power.
This is the fifth grid collapse in 2024, according to reports.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) confirmed the incident, stating that power is being restored gradually. A TCN official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said efforts are underway to fully restore electricity supply.
The grid collapse was observed at 1:33 pm on Monday, with total generation dropping to zero. This latest incident highlights the ongoing challenges facing Nigeria’s power sector.
The frequent grid collapses have raised concerns about the country’s ability to provide stable electricity supply to its citizens. The government has promised to address the issue, but solutions have yet to be implemented.
As Nigerians continue to experience power outages, the call for a reliable and efficient electricity supply system grows louder.
