In a welcome development, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has announced a further relaxation of the 24-hour curfew imposed in the state capital.
As of Thursday, residents are now allowed to move freely from 12 noon to 6 pm daily until further notice.
This decision was made after a thorough assessment of the security situation in the state, according to a statement signed by the Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs. The statement noted that the improved security situation in the Jos-Bukuru metropolis warranted the relaxation of the curfew.
“In light of the improved security situation in the Jos-Bukuru metropolis, the Plateau State Government has further relaxed the curfew, effective today, Thursday, 8th August 2024. Residents are now permitted to move freely for their lawful activities from 12 noon to 6 pm daily until further notice,” the statement read.
Governor Mutfwang, in consultation with security agencies, authorized this relaxation, demonstrating his commitment to making decisions in the best interest of the people. He commended the public for their peaceful conduct during the curfew and appealed for continued cooperation with security agencies to ensure the safety and security of the state.
