The Ogun State Government has taken swift action following the tragic death of Monday Arijo, an SS2 student at Obada Grammar School, Idi-Emi.

According to a statement released by Mr. Lekan Adeniran, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dapo Abiodun, the closure was directed by the governor, who also ordered an investigation into the incident ¹. “The governor has promised that those liable by the outcome of the investigation will be made to face the full wrath of the law,” the statement read.
A government delegation, comprising top education officials, visited the family of the deceased student to offer condolences and gather firsthand information for a thorough investigation. The team included the Director of Secondary and Higher Education, Principals General of Egba and Yewa Divisions, and representatives from various educational and trade organizations.
During the visit, the officials expressed their heartfelt condolences and pledged the state government’s support to the family. They assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the facts surrounding the incident and that accountability would be pursued. The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring learners’ safety and creating a supportive school environment.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Idi-Emi also assured the family that justice would be served, stating that the situation would be unraveled to the core. The family received a condolence letter and a cash gift of N500,000 from the officials.
