Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, has stated that he has declared “total support” for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
While describing his current tour of Rivers State’s local government areas (LGAs), Wike made the announcement on Tuesday in a post on X. He stated that he was slated to continue consulting in Akuku-Toru and Degema LGAs after trips to Oyigbo and Ogu-Bolo LGAs.
“Yesterday, we were in Oyigbo and Ogu-Bolo LGAs. Today, we will be in Akuku-Toru and Degema LGAs,” Wike wrote.
“Here, it is local politics, and our support for Mr President is total.”
The comment is made in the midst of growing hostilities over power and influence in Rivers State politics between Wike and Ajibola Basiru, National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Basiru demanded Wike to resign from his ministerial position on Monday in order to concentrate on his alleged “obsession” with Rivers state politics.
After the FCT minister threatened to “burn his hands” if Wike continued to meddle in Rivers’ politics, Basiru called for Wike’s resignation.
